Non-combat encounters directly contrast combat encounters in that they do not contain combat. In non-combat encounters, Hunters are challenged through physical feats, mental agility and social disputes. Hunters use their experience and expertise to complete non-combat encounters.
Non-combat encounters are dissimilar to combat encounters in that they often start and end quickly, prompting a single contest between the challenge and the character before the encounter ends. In these situations, Hunters may be faced by multiple contests within the encounter. Non-combat encounters do not require the players to manage resources, but instead figure a way through an obstacle. Non-combat encounters are not necessarily won or lost, but different results can occur depending on what procedures are taken.
